Ramadan 2027 Arabic TV in Canada: How to Prepare
Updated November 2, 2026 · Arabic IPTV Canada team
For Arabic-speaking families, Ramadan has a sound and a rhythm: the call to prayer, the iftar table, and then the new series that everyone discusses the next day. Ramadan is the biggest season of the year for Arabic television, with many of the most anticipated dramas, comedies and shows premiering during the month. For families in Canada, enjoying that season takes a little planning, because the broadcasts follow Middle Eastern time and the whole Arab world watches at once. This guide helps you prepare for Ramadan 2027.
Expected dates for Ramadan 2027
Based on astronomical calculations, Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around February 8, 2027, with Eid al-Fitr around March 9 or 10, 2027. The exact start depends on the moon sighting followed by your mosque or community, so confirm locally. Either way, Ramadan 2027 falls in the Canadian winter, which means short days, early iftars and long evenings at home: ideal for television, and a reason to get your setup right in January.
The time zone puzzle
Ramadan series are scheduled for viewers in the Middle East and North Africa, usually in the hours after iftar there. Canada is seven to ten hours behind the Gulf and five to eight hours behind Morocco, depending on the province and the time of year. That means:
| If a show airs at... | Toronto / Montreal (ET) | Calgary / Edmonton (MT) | Vancouver (PT) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 21:00 in Riyadh / Mecca | 13:00 | 11:00 | 10:00 |
| 21:00 in Cairo | 14:00 | 12:00 | 11:00 |
| 21:00 in Casablanca | 15:00 or 16:00 | 13:00 or 14:00 | 12:00 or 13:00 |
These figures assume standard time in Canada in February. Morocco's clock arrangements during Ramadan can differ from the rest of the year, so double-check.
In practice, the big premieres air while most Canadians are at work or school. Families deal with this in three ways:
- Catch-up and on-demand. Many families watch the evening's episodes after their own iftar, using on-demand apps or the catch-up features of their player.
- Reruns. Arabic channels often repeat Ramadan series later the same day, which can land in the Canadian evening.
- Live on a second screen. Some watch the live premiere on a phone or tablet at lunchtime and the rerun with the family later.
Which channels to plan for
The Ramadan season is spread across pan-Arab broadcasters and national channels. Gulf and pan-Arab networks carry many of the big productions, Egyptian channels are famous for their Ramadan drama and comedy, and North African channels run their own national series and sitcoms that Moroccan, Algerian and Tunisian families look forward to all year.
Our lineup is organised by category and country rather than by a fixed channel list, because availability depends on licensing and can change. Before Ramadan, make a short list of the channels and series your family wants, ask us about them on WhatsApp, and check them during a free trial. See Arabic channel categories and the country pages such as Moroccan TV, Egyptian TV and Algerian TV in Canada.
If MBC series are a priority, also read how to watch MBC and Shahid in Canada, which covers the official on-demand option.
Prepare your setup in January
Ramadan is the busiest period of the year for Arabic streaming everywhere. Fix problems before it starts, not during the first week.
Check the device
A slow device is more frustrating than ever when the whole family is waiting for an episode. A Fire TV Stick 4K or 4K Max, a recent Android TV box or a MAG box all work well. If your current device is old or the Lite model, January is a good time to upgrade. Our best IPTV box for Arabic channels guide compares them.
Fix the Wi-Fi
After iftar, everyone in the building is online. In apartments in Toronto, Mississauga and Montreal, evening Wi-Fi congestion is the most common cause of buffering. Use Ethernet for the main TV, or at least the 5 GHz band with the router nearby. Plan on about 15 Mbps per HD stream and add up all the TVs that watch at the same time.
Update everything
Update the player app and the device software in January. Write down your login details somewhere safe so you are not searching for them on the first night. Our Firestick setup guide explains updates and cache clearing.
Build a Ramadan favourites list
Most players let you create a favourites group. Put the channels your family will watch during the month in one list, with a separate kids' list. Grandparents will thank you.
Ramadan for children in Canada
Ramadan is also a chance for children who grow up speaking English or French at school to connect with Arabic. Arabic cartoons, religious programming for kids and family shows make the month feel special at home. Set up a simple kids' favourites list and let them choose a show after iftar.
Religious programming
Many families want Quran recitation, Taraweeh broadcasts from the Two Holy Mosques and religious talks during the month. Religious categories are part of our lineup. Because of the time difference, live Taraweeh from Mecca happens during the Canadian afternoon or late morning, so recordings and reruns are useful here too.

Summary
Ramadan 2027 is expected to start around February 8, in the middle of the Canadian winter. The premieres air during the Canadian daytime, so plan to use catch-up, reruns and a second screen. Prepare in January: test with a trial, fix the Wi-Fi, update the device and build your favourites lists. Then the only thing left to decide after iftar is which series to watch first.
