Arabic IPTV in Vancouver
Arabic TV for Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Richmond and North Vancouver, streamed over your home internet. قنوات عربية في فانكوفر.
Arabic speakers on the West Coast
Metro Vancouver's Arabic-speaking community is smaller than Montreal's or Toronto's but growing quickly, with Iraqi, Syrian, Lebanese, Egyptian, Palestinian, Jordanian and Gulf families in Surrey, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and North Vancouver, plus many students at UBC and SFU. Because the community is spread out, there are few Arabic options on local cable, which makes IPTV the practical choice.
Pacific time: the biggest challenge
Vancouver is ten to eleven hours behind Beirut, Baghdad and the Gulf. Live evening news from the Middle East airs around 9 to 11 a.m. Pacific, and Ramadan series that premiere after iftar in the Gulf or Egypt are on in the morning here. Set the player's guide to Pacific time, use favourites for news channels you check at breakfast, and use catch-up on supported channels to watch dramas in your own evening.
Condos, rentals and strata rules
Much of Vancouver lives in condos and rentals where strata rules ban satellite dishes. IPTV needs only internet, so it suits a downtown tower, a Burnaby high-rise or a Surrey basement suite. In towers, evening Wi-Fi congestion is the usual cause of buffering: use Ethernet or the 5 GHz band, and keep the router close to the TV.
Internet providers
Telus PureFibre, Rogers (formerly Shaw), Novus (some downtown buildings), TekSavvy and others work. Plan on about 15 Mbps per HD stream and 25 Mbps for 4K. No VPN is needed.
What to test
Iraqi and Syrian news, Lebanese talk shows, Egyptian films and Arabic cartoons are common requests. See Iraqi TV in Canada and Syrian TV in Canada, plus our channel categories.
Students at UBC and SFU
Students from the Gulf, Egypt and the Levant often arrive in Vancouver with a laptop and a phone but no TV. A compatible player on a phone, tablet or laptop is enough to follow the news from home and watch football with Arabic commentary. If you share an apartment, plug a Fire TV Stick into the shared TV and keep your own favourites list. Ask us how many simultaneous screens your plan allows.
Prices
Plans are the same everywhere in Canada: 6 months $29.99, 1 year $49.99 or 2 years $84.99 (USD), paid once with no contract. See pricing or start with a free trial on WhatsApp.
Trial tips
Test during the hours your household actually watches, on the TV you will actually use. Write down any channel you could not find and ask us before paying. On the West Coast, test once in the morning for live news and once in the evening for catch-up and films.
